8/30/2023 0 Comments Dumbledore actor change![]() Richard was very regal - as Dumbledore is described in the books - and very beautiful, and we wanted to do it more hippyish, cheekier and a little more shabby. That would be so bad for both: for Richard and for Michael. From the get-go we made changes to give the continuity, but at the same time it was not about imitating Richard Harris. It’s a slightly different Dumbledore than it would have otherwise been, isn’t it?Īlfonso Cuarón: It is slightly different. He’s similar enough that it didn’t feel jarring but at the same time he brings his own thing. A bit more ethereal.Ĭuaron himself said this in an interview: I'm a little bit more camp, I think, a bit lighter. I did that and Alfonso said, "What's the accent here?" I said, "Irish." He said, "That's OK." And no one's ever mentioned it. On the first film I did which was directed by Alfonso Cuaron I walked in there and I'm naturally Irish and my first accent is Irish, I will speak Irish with my parents, and I played just a slight touch of Trinity College Dublin. To what extent did you have to inherit Richard Harris's performance? As such, the Harry Potter series has followed the same path as the 1960s magic-oriented sitcom, Bewitched, which likewise changed a lead actor with no explanation ever offered. The films have, so far, not attempted to address this discrepancy between Gambon's portrayal and Harris' quieter, less physically abrupt performance. Richard Harris's interpretation differed in this respect, opting for a far calmer demeanour on his character's part. ![]() While Dumbledore is mostly described as "calm" in the books, Michael Gambon's Dumbledore appears far less so at times on some occasions raising his voice in a threatening or angry manner. Also highly noticable is Gambon's deviation from both the books' and Richard Harris's Dumbledore in terms of emotional composure. ![]() Gambon, in comparison to Richard Harris, has portrayed Dumbledore as a more robust, vocal and rather eccentric wizard. Not only had Gambon not read the books before being cast in the role of Dumbledore, he chose to not read any of the books after receiving the role, as he felt that "Actors can get a bit miserable when they read the book and realise, 'Oh, my scene from the book has been cut.' That's not the point." 1 In short, Gambon has not deliberately aimed to follow the specific characteristics of Dumbledore, as referenced in the books, but rather developed an acting style in which he combines his own personality with that of his character. I’m not really a character actor at all." This suggests that Gambon chooses to act his performance based on his own intuitive interpretations of how a character would respond to certain situations. I never ease into a role – every part I play is just a variant of my own personality. He further states, "I just stick on a beard and play me, so it's no great feat. Particularly, he was quoted as saying that when portraying Dumbledore, he does not necessarily "have to play anyone". In discussing his portrayal of Dumbledore in the Harry Potter film series, Gambon has given detailed accounts. I understand that each director has their own vision, but I would like to know what the creative process was that lead to Michael Gambon in the role of Dumbledore and his completely different portrayal of the character. Didn't Cuaron consider how silly these characters would look together in future films? Fawkes is Dumbledore's animal familiar, like Nagini is to Voldemort. What also bothers me is how out of place an unkempt Dumbledore looks next to the graceful, majestic symbol of immortality and hope that is Fawkes, the Phoenix. The Harry Potter films had a very steady continuity between the first and second films, but once Chris Colombus left the helm, why did Alfonso Cuaron change the character of Albus Dumbledore so drastically?įirst, he recast the role with Michael Gambon, who looks nothing like Richard Harris, let alone the Dumbledore described in the Potter books then he dressed him as a stereotypical warlock with bedraggled, grey (not silver/white) hair and beard with robes that look like they were tailored by Filch - not to mention, that random beard tie! Even Gambon's accent was different from Richard Harris'. 8/30/2023 0 Comments Virtual job shadow fitness trainer![]() Telehealth is here to stay and is part of our "new normal" in medicine and surgery. ![]()

Studies in captive populations suggest that the dominant male and female begin the spawning event as nearly the only spawners for the first day or two, but other members of the aggregation fertilize more eggs as the event progresses, with even the most recently turned males fathering offspring. They are aggregative broadcast spawners, usually with several females per male. They spawn on a lunar cycle, with spawns lasting about 7 days. Like most groupers, giant groupers are protogynous hermaphrodites. They are not generally considered dangerous to humans but divers are advised to treat large specimens with caution and not to hand feed them. They are, however, curious and frequently approach divers closely. This species is normally solitary and long-lived. Fish living in estuarine environments in South Africa were found to be feeding almost exclusively on the crab Scylla serrata. Fish which inhabit coral reefs and rocky areas favour spiny lobsters as prey a 177-centimetre (70 in) specimen taken off Maui in Hawaii had a stomach content of two spiny lobsters and a number of crabs. The giant grouper is an opportunistic ambush predator which feeds on a variety of fishes, as well as small sharks, juvenile sea turtles, crustaceans and molluscs which are all swallowed whole. They have also been caught in turbid water over silt or mud sea beds by prawn fishermen. The adults are mainly solitary and hold territories on the outer reef and in lagoons. They are found in caves and in wrecks while the secretive juveniles occur in reefs and are infrequently observed. Large specimens have been caught from shore and in harbours. ![]() It is associated with reefs and is the largest known bony fish found on reefs. The giant grouper is a species of shallow water and can be found at depths of 1 to 100 metres (3.3 to 328.1 ft). It is absent from the Persian Gulf but it is present off the coast of Pakistan and southern Oman. There have also been reports from the Younghusband Peninsula in South Australia and north eastern New Zealand. It also occurs around Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands and the Elizabeth and Middleton Reefs Marine National Park Reserve in the Tasman Sea.
